Your smartphone does everything so why not STD Testing?
A group in the U.K. has developed a test that you can administer through your smartphone.
The test is as simple as peeing or spitting onto a special device that plugs into your smartphone. The test results for common STDs, such as gonorrhea, Chlamydia and herpes, will appear in a few minutes.
The software has a lot of potential. The software could include everything from treatment recommendations to locations on where you can find help. Advertising could also be sold through the app for consumers looking for STD testing and or treatment.
A $6.4 million dollar grant is making this project possible. The project goes by the same eSTI² ("electronic Self-Testing Instruments for STIs") and is being developed by a several business' and companies in the U.K.
This type of testing would be geared more towards a younger more tech savvy person. They hope to bring the tests into nightclubs, pharmacies, and grocery stores.
