Orasure Inches Closer to FDA Approval of Home HIV Test Kit

U.S. regulatory advisers have backed a bid for OraSure Technologies Inc. to bring to the market the very first at-home HIV test. The test will allow people to get HIV test results with seeing a doctor or visiting a laboratory.

The In-Home HIV Test would offered results in 20 minutes and will be sold w/o a prescription. A concern with the new kits would be the increase in false positives which are a reality of testing. I think the positives of such a test would outweigh the risk.
